COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Adams State women's lacrosse team put in a great effort Saturday afternoon in a match against the No. 12 ranked Regis Rangers at Mountain Lion Stadium in Colorado Springs. The Grizzlies put up a strong battle against the Rangers but took a fall, 22-0.
The Grizzlies started off in a rough patch as the Rangers managed to get a goal in early on. With great ambition the Grizzlies got their momentum going and began to play a bit more aggressively.
Makenna Riotte had a great turnover on the 28th minute as she changed the dynamic of the game.
Nina Sandler came in and joined in on the action as she made a turnover as well. The Rangers seemed to gain a bit of confidence, which allowed them to build a lead on the Grizzlies.
Jazmine Palacios did an impressive job in the mid-field as she was very attentive and quick to react when the Rangers took ownership of the ball. The Grizzlies did their best to stay engaged in the game, as they each worked together to create scoring opportunities through great ball movement.
Despite the Grizzlies efforts, the Rangers built up a streak, as they kept making goals leading the Grizzlies to trial off 14-0 ending the first half.
During the second period the Grizzlies came back even stronger as they managed to gain more possession over the ball. The game continued to intensify as the Rangers racked in more points. Palacios continued to set the tone for the Grizzlies as she and Bailey Trues teamed up to turnover the ball.
The Grizzlies had great draw control but were unable to capitalize on those opportunities for scoring purposes. The Grizzlies continued to put in their full efforts until the end but took a fall, 22-0.
Louisa Sanchez did an outstanding job trying to keep the Ranger from scoring. Sanchez did her best to quickly respond as the ball approached the goal as she had 13 total saves in the game.
Up next, the Grizzlies will make their way back onto the Mountain Lion Stadium where they will compete in a match against the Mountain Lions tomorrow afternoon with the game scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
