LAKEWOOD, Colo.—The Adams State University Softball team was unable to offset the Colorado Cougars offense on Sunday afternoon at Keli McGregor Field at All-Star Park. The Cougars swept the Grizzlies to solidify their standing.
Game 1: Colorado Christian 12, Adams State 0 (5 inn.)
A seven-hit nine-run bottom of the first set up the entire game for the Grizzlies as they were only able to muster up four hits in the entire game. The Cougars had three extra base hits in the first inning including a three-run home run.
Taylor Duncan came in and shut down the Cougar offense.
Offensively, Kyra Archibald was the lone hitter with multiple hits as she had two singles.
Game 2: Colorado Christian 1, Adams State 0
The Cougars capitalized on two quick hits in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead.
Tyler Hays tied the game up in the third inning as she hit a line drive home run just inside the left field foul pole.
The Cougars then scored two runs in the third and fourth innings before adding another in the fifth inning for a 6-1 lead.
Adams State then strung four hits together to score two runs as Alexa Nielson had an RBI single before Analise Rodriguez had a hard single down the left field line.
