ALAMOSA, Colo.— The Grizzlies had a doubleheader against Colorado School of Mines in a two-game series that saw the home crowd walking away with a smile as they earned a hard fought 11-10 walkoff win in the seventh inning night cap. The Orediggers won the first game 13-11.
Game 1: Colorado School of Mines 13, Adams State 11
The Orediggers jumped out to an early lead scoring one run in the top of the first inning off of a solo home run. The Grizzlies responded and took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning with a double by
Orlando Romero.
The Grizzlies scored two more runs in the bottom of the third inning with a single by
Paul Giglio and
Orlando Romero.
The Orediggers scored ten unanswered runs with six in the top of the fourth inning, one in the top of the fifth, and three in the top of the sixth inning. The Grizzlies put up five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning with a double by
Nathan Hield and a two-run home run by
Mike Bathauer. The Grizzlies tied the game in the bottom of the seventh scoring one run. The Orediggers took the lead in the top of the eighth inning scoring two runs.
Game 2: Adams State 11, Colorado School of Mines 10
The Orediggers jumped on the board first by scoring three runs in the top of the second inning.
Mike Bathauer got the Grizzlies on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning. The Orediggers scored three more runs in the top of the third inning.
The Grizzlies put up two runs in the bottom of second inning which included a two-run single by
Matt Bathauer. The Grizzlies took a 7-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring four runs with a
Matt Bathauer grand slam.
The Orediggers scored four unanswered runs, three in the top of the sixth inning and one in the top of the seventh.
The Grizzlies batted in the bottom of the seventh with a run batted in single by
Orlando Romero, a two-run single by
Colton Goldfarb and a walk off sacrifice fly by
Jace Wytulka.
