ALAMOSA, Colo.—The MSU Denver Roadrunners swept the opening twin bill over the Adams State University Grizzly softball team on Saturday afternoon. Despite perfect softball weather, the Grizzlies were defeated 10-3 and 9-2.
Game 1: MSU Denver 10, Adams State 3
The Roadrunners jumped out to a 2-0 lead headed into the bottom of the third inning. The Grizzlies scored all their runs in the inning.
Breck Smith nailed a single to left field to score
Jade Garbiso before
Sydney Muniz hit a two-run inside-the-park home run down the right field line to score herself and Smith.
The Roadrunners capitalized on two four-run innings including the fifth and sixth innings to close out the game.
Jade Garbiso was tabbed with the loss while Darby McGhee won the game.
Game 2: MSU Denver 9, Adams State 2
After allowing the Roadrunners to jump out to a 6-0 lead including three runs in the top of the second inning, Adams State cut into the lead in the bottom of the third.
Tyler Hays and
Jade Garbiso hit back-t0-back jacks to make the score 6-2 going into the fourth inning.
The Roadrunners would string three more runs across the board during the game.
