GUNNISON, COLO.—The Adams State Cross Country team continues to build momentum for the rest of their season as they stepped on the line for the second week in a row at the Mountaineer/Cowboy Invite on Saturday morning with the men's team finishing in second with 57 points and the women's team finishing in third with 59 points.
Adams State had two women finishing in the top ten. Leading the Grizzlies on the women's side was freshman
Reina Paredes as she fished the 5,000-meter race in fourth with a time of 19:15.52. Freshman
Amalia Dorion was the second grizzly to cross the finish line as she (19:42.11) finished in tenth. Rounding up the top five for scoring was freshman
Jaden Johnson (19:52.30), sophomore
Erin Stonebarger (20:15.42), sophomore
Paige Morales (20:24.26), and sophomore
Amanda Foster (22:12.83).
On the men's side two runners finished in the top ten as freshman
Yonas Haile was the first Grizzly to cross the line of the 8,000-meter race finishing in fifth place (26:17.17) followed by freshman
David Cardenas in sixth place (26:18.36). Other top twenty-five finishers included Senior
Alec Hall (26:38.2), Freshman
Elias Perez (26:47.35), Junior
Mitchell Dervin (26:50.86), and Freshman
Andrew O'Keefe (27:07.17). Freshman Abdi Abade (27:43.30) and Sophomore
Jacob Wheat (27:44.86) competed as well.
The Grizzlies will be back in action in two weeks as they will travel to Bethlehem, Penn. to compete at the 47
th Annual Lehigh Paul Short run on Friday October 1
