ALAMOSA, Colo. – It was the perfect day at ASU Soccer Field for the Grizzlies to take on Texas Permian Basin. The Grizzlies and Falcons both came out ready to play, however, the Falcons were able to able to overcome a 2-0 deficit and escape with a 3-2 win as they scored the final goal in the final minute of the contest.
The Grizzlies and the Falcons had multiple chances to put the ball in the back of the net but the score remained 0-0 in the first half. The momentum shifted back and forth as the Falcons and Grizzlies both played aggressive and hard.
In the second half, the Grizzlies came out quick with a score from
Brendan Koplin. A defensive mistake and good pressure from Adams State resulted in the Koplin score, unassisted, in the 47th minute. The Grizzlies found the back of the net again as
Tre Maxwell assisted to
Brayan Fernandez on the counterattack.
The Falcons countered back as in the 68th minute Arney Chance scored. It was assisted by Salvador Vargas Ramos. The Falcons scored again in the 74th minute, making the score 2-2.
The Grizzlies and the Falcons battled back and forth, making the game a nail bitter. Unfortunately, in the 90th minute, the Falcons scored off of a throw in. The final score was 3-2.
Up next the Grizzlies will travel to Lakewood, Colorado as they take on Dallas Baptist University on Saturday, September 11th.
