GOLDEN, Colo.—The No. 7/13 ranked Adams State University Grizzlies battled valiantly but fell to No. 21 ranked Colorado School of Mines 24-15 on Friday night inside Volk Gymnasium.
The 197 pound match started the dual out with
Hunter Tobiasson getting two quick takedown points on Audan Funk int eh first period. Tobiasson then earned an early second period escape. That was all the scoring in the match as he was able to get the 3-0 win for a 3-0 advantage.
After a Grizzly forfeit at 285 pounds, Mines led 6-3.
At 125 pounds,
Isaiah De La Cerda and Chrisian Lopez stayed scoreless in the first quarter with De La Cerda getting the first point of the match in the second with an escape. He was able to close out the match aggressively with a 7-2 win to tie the dual at 6.
Tyler Krause was able to get 7-2 decision over Jimmizan Redhorse to make the score 9-6.
The lead grew to 13-6 when Grayston DiBlasi earned an 11-2 major decision over
Cael Figueroa.
Noah Hermosillo earned an injury forfeit over Zachary Krase to make the score 13-12.
Josiah Rider gave ASU the lead at 15-13 as he earned a 10-4 decision over Carter Noehre at 157 pounds.
The Orediggers won the next three matches to cap off the win. Jackson Damenti earned an 8-5 lead over Samuel Loera before Ryan Fidel earned a hard-fought sudden victory match and Anderson Salisbury steamrolled Ben Tonnessen with an 18-3 technical fall.
Will be back in Action on Wednesday when they travel to CSU Pueblo for a dual at 6:00 p.m.
