WBB| Grizzlies on the road this weekend


ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzlies are finishing up their six games in nine days schedule this weekend. They will be traveling to Gunnison to play Western Colorado on Friday, January 21st at 5:30 p.m. and then to Durango to play Fort Lewis College on Saturday, January 22nd at 5:00 p.m.

Entering the Grizzlies first matchup against their rivals Western, the Grizzlies currently are 6-9 overall and 4-6 in conference play. In their earlier games this week they went 1-1 as they beat Colorado Christian 77-51 and lost to Metro 64-58. Western Colorado is entering this weekend as being in fifth place in the RMAC. Their current record overall is 7-6 and in conference they are 5-3. The Mountaineers are currently being led by Senior guard and forward Grace Kirscher. Kirscher is averaging 11.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and has seven blocks on the season. Trailing behind her is Senior shooting guard Samantha Coleman. She is averaging 10.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and is 38.5% from the three-point line. In the last matchup last season, the Mountaineers ended up on top as they won 83-70. Overall, the Grizzlies are 15-18 against rival Western Colorado. The Grizzlies will be fighting to end their nine-game losing streak against the Mountaineers.
 
After traveling to Gunnison, the Grizzlies will head back on the road against Fort Lewis College. In the last matchup between these two teams last February, the Skyhawks were victorious as they won 88-85. The Skyhawks are currently 2-12 this season overall and 1-7 in conference play. Their only victory was against Colorado Christian on December 11th. The Skyhawks are led by Sydney Candelaria who is averaging 19.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and has 32 assists so far this season. Behind her is Kelsey Sorenson who is averaging 10.7 points and 7 rebounds.
 
Up next, after being on the road these past two weekends, the Grizzlies will have two home games against Regis University on January 28th at 5:30 p.m. and Colorado School of Mines on January 29 th at 5:30 p.m.
