NEW ORLEANS – The Men's and Women's Scholar Athlete of the Year and All-Academic Athletes for the 2021 NCAA Division II Cross Country season were announced on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Grizzlies had six women and three men earn the honor.
Overall, there were 275 men from 98 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2021 season. Overall, there were 357 women from 104 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2021 season.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
The All-Academic Athletes for the Grizzlies include
James Dunne,
Andrew O'Keefe and Mikah Paiz on the men's side and for the women, Franziska Althaus,
Fiona Hawkins,
Morgan Hykes,
Nicole Lawrence,
Precious Robinson and
Brianna Robles represented.
