COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— The Adams State Cross Country team is getting into the rhythm for the season as they competed at the Ted Castaneda Classic. The mens team tied for first place with Colorado School of Mines as both teams scored 33-points and the women took first scoring 44-points.
Leading the pack was Franziska Althaus as she made a final move towards the end of the 6,000 meters race and ran a time of 21:34.77. The next Grizzly to cross the line was
Amalia Dorion as she finished sixth with a time of 22:21.55, followed by
Erin Stonebarger in seventh (22:22.54) and
Reina Paredes in 14
th (22:48.64).
On the mens side there were great efforts by
Miguel Coca as he ran a solid race to earn third place with a time of 24:49.73. The next Grizzly to cross the line was
Aron Orar as he finished sixth overall with a time of 25:01.40, followed by
Mitchell Dervin in eighth with a time of 25:05.27.
Andrew O'Keefe finished 13
th overall with a time of 25:11.81. Kailler Smith competed as well as he finished 15
th (25:21.71), followed by
Davonte Jett-Reynolds in 22
nd place (25:45.15),
Kidus Begashaw in 23
rd (25:48.87), and Mikah Piz in 24
th ( 25:53.25).
Up Next, the Grizzlies will continue to train and will be back on the starting line on October 15 as they will travel to Riverside, California to compete at the Highlander Invitational.
