ALAMOSA, Colo.—The Adams State University men's soccer team was seconds away from winning their second straight. The Grizzlies, who defeated MSU Denver for the first time in school history, fell literally two seconds short of a win over South Dakota Mines Hardrockers, as the game ended in a 1-1 tie, at the ASU Soccer Field on Friday afternoon.
The two teams played the entire field as they attempted to find open room in the opposing team's defenses.
The Grizzlies finally cracked into the scoring column in the 26th minute as
Avery Richards scored his first goal of the season on a nice feed from
Ranulfo Lopez, who secured his third assist of the game.
The Hardrockers had several opportunities to tie the game in the second half, however, the Grizzly defesnse was able to stuff the Grizzlies until the final two seconds of the game as a corner kick bounced around the box before finally going into the net with two seconds.
The Grizzlies will cap off the 2022 season on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. as they host Black Hills State University for senior day. Senior Day festivities are set to start at 10:35 a.m. and can be viewed in person or on the RMAC Network.
