ALAMOSA, Colo.--Adams State's women's basketball team continued its strong start to the new season on Friday night.
The Grizzlies turned back Embry-Riddle Aueronautical University (Ariz.) 80-58 in Plachy Hall. ASU had a 15-point halftime lead en route to the win, the Grizzlies' third in four starts. Embry Riddle played its season-opener.
Elaina Watson topped ASU's scoresheet with 16 points. Angeline Nageak added 13, including three from 3-point range. Zakirah King led Embry Riddle with 11 points. Ella Schott scored nine, and Hannah Urbano added eight.
Embry Riddle made just 39 percent of its field goals. Adams State converted almost 58 percent of its tries from the field. The Grizzlies rode the rebounding effort of Kilyani Anitlelu (she had six) to a 33-21 edge on the boards. Liz Behan led Embry Riddle with four rebounds.
ASU returns to work at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, against Northern New Mexico College inside Plachy Hall.
