KEARNEY, Neb. – Adams State's
Noah Hermosillo paced the Adams State University Grizzlies on Saturday as he won the 157-pound elite championship at the Younes Hospitality Open tournament at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
Two of his wins were by pinfall. He won the title with a 9-2 decision of Cason Lindsey, who was wrestling unattached.
ASU's Josiah Rider took fourth at 149 pounds. Wyoming's Warren Carr won the consolation final by injury default. Hunter Tobiasson took sixth at 197 pounds. He won two of his matches by pinfall and one other (against Jackson Kinsella of Nebraska-Kearney) by major decision. Colorado Mesa University's Kash Anderson won the fifth-place match by forfeit.
In the amateur division, Elijah Olguin took fourth at 141 pounds.
Brendon Garcia earned three team points as he went 1-2 on day at 133 pounds.
Cody Lewis scored 2.5 points and finished 1-2 as did Samuel Loera at 174 poinds.
In the Amateur division, Adam Concepcion went 4-2 and finished with 7.5 points at 125 pounds.
Jack Faczak earned two team points at 133 pounds.
Jimmizan Redhorse earned 133 points at 133 pounds as he went 4-2 and scored 7.5 points.
Miguel Sanchez finished with one team point at 133 pounds, while Jace Long scored two at 141 pounds and Cael Figueroa scored 4.5 points.
Zack Fish scored 0.45 points at 149 pounds while Dylan Pickering scored 1.5 points at 149 pounds and Travis Vialpando scored 13 points and Greyson LeCompte scored 6 points.
Josh Coon scored 4.5 points while Diego Duarte scored 4 points at 174 pounds.
The Grizzlies will take the week of Thanksgiving off before returning to the mat on Dec. 3 when they travel to New Mexico Highlands for the Doug Moses NMHU Open.
