TURIN, Italy—Adams State University had three individuals with ties to the university compete at the SPAR European Cross-Country Championships 2022. Alumni's Eiish Flanagan and
Roisin Flanagan competed for the Ireland Senior team and
Fiona Hawkins competed for team Ireland in the U20 category.
Eilish and Rosin Flanagan were the first to cross the line paving the way for women's team Ireland to earn bronze at the SPAR European Cross-Country Championships in Italy. The Flanagan twins worked together as they competed at La Mandira Park in a 7662-meter race. The Flanagan twins worked their way up through the course of the race and crossed the line with a time of 27.38 respectively to earn 11
th and 12
th place finish as they crossed the line side by side.
Fiona Hawkins competed in the women's U20 race, which is the first time she makes an appearance at an international championship. Hawkins used her cross-country experience in a 6,000-meter race to move down in distance and compete in 3812- meter race. Hawkins worked her way up through the course of the race as she respectively finished 35
th overall with a time of 14:05.
The Flannagan twins and Hawkins continue to work hard and give their best efforts to represent Adams State University at an international level as they are coached under
Damon Martin in Alamosa, Colorado.
