MBB | Grizzlies to host Mavericks, Griffins

ALAMOSA, Colo- The Adams State University Men's basketball team will be back at home to face Colorado Mesa University and Westminster College on Friday and Saturday.
 
The Grizzlies had a long road trip last weekend where they faced Black Hills University and Chadron State College. The Grizzlies split and went 1-1 on the road, Saturday's game was a very intense game against Chadron State College. There were three Grizzlies scoring in double figures, Rylan O'Brien was leading with 20 points and going 50 percent from the three point line. Kaelin Crane was up next with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Lastly, Malik Moore had a great night having a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. It went to the last second for the Grizzlies to pull off the win by one point, ending in a final score 59-58. The Grizzlies have moved up to ninth place in the RMAC basketball standings.
 
Up first, the grizzlies will play against Colorado Mesa University on Friday, February 11th at 7:30 p.m. They will remain in Plachy hall where they will play Westminster College Saturday, February 12th at 7:30 p.m.
 
Colorado Mesa last game was played on February 5th against South Dakota Mines. The Mavericks were able to take an early lead quickly against Mines. The first half the Mavericks were up by 21 with a score of 39-18. They had three players scoring in double figures, Alejandro Rama and Kolten Mortensen both had 14 points, Brevin Walter had 10 points going 4-10 from the field. The Mavericks were able to keep that large lead throughout the second half and ended up with the win 70-54. Colorado Mesa is standing in third in the RMAC.
 
The next team the Grizzlies will match up against this weekend will be against Westminster College Saturday, February 12th at 7:30 p.m.
 
Westminster matched up against South Dakota Mines last Thursday, this game was a battle from start to finish. The Griffins had a terrific night they had four players scoring in double figures. Leading them was Matt Kitzman with 18 points 6 rebounds, followed by Reme Torbert with 17  points and 5 rebounds. Griffins took the win with a final score 70-76. Currently Westminster is standing in 8th in the RMAC just one spot above the Grizzlies.
 
The Grizzlies will head on the road for quick trip as they play New Mexico Highlands Tuesday, February 15th at 6:00 p.m.
