ALAMOSA, Colo.—The Adams State University Men's basketball team will be back at home to face Fort Lewis College and Western Colorado University to wrap up the 2021-22 home portion of the schedule.
Last time these two teams met the Grizzlies were on the road. The Grizzlies had a clean sweep that week as they beat Western Colorado University 81-74 and Fort Lewis College by one with a final score 90-89 in overtime. These two teams will now travel to Alamosa to face the Grizzlies at home in Plachy hall.
The last game the Grizzlies played against New Mexico Highlands this past Tuesday. This game was a make-up game due to COVID protocols. The first half was a back and forth game between the two teams, the Cowboys were up by the end of the half 37-33. When the second half had started the cowboys were hot going 56.25 percent from field goal range. The Grizzlies could not find a rhythm and the Cowboys took advantage of that. The Grizzlies did have four players scoring double figures, to lead the way,
Rylan O'Brien had 14 points. The next player was
Kaelin Crane with 13 points and 7 rebounds.
Tyrin Hollis and
Jordan Notch finished with 10 points. The final score ended with a loss for the Grizzlies 59-88. This two teams have met up twice and end the series 1-1.
Up first this weekend, the Grizzlies will play against Fort Lewis College on Friday, February 18
th at 7:30 p.m. They will remain in Plachy hall as they face Western Colorado University Saturday, February 19
th at 7:30 p.m.
Fort Lewis College last game was played this past Monday where they faced Colorado Christian University. From the tip the Skyhawks were able to get a comfortable lead against the Cougars they went 56.9 percent from the field goal and 51.7 percent from the three. They had four Skyhawks scoring in double figures, to lead the way was Riley Farris 26 points going 5-7 from the three. Up next they had Jacquess Hobbs with 16 points 5-6 from field goal. Lastly, they had two players scoring 11 points Akuel Kot and Brendan Boatwright. Fort Lewis College now stands in fourth in the RMAC with only four games left in the season.
The next team the Grizzlies will match up against this weekend will be against Western Colorado University Saturday, February 19
th at 7:30 p.m.
Western last game played was this past Saturday against Colorado School of Mines. This game was a very aggressive and intense game from start to finish. As both teams were showing a very physical side to them offensively and defensively. For Western we had Matthew Ragsdale scoring 33 points and 7 rebounds. Up next was Will Willis with 12 points and lastly Elijah Davidson with 11 points. Unfortunately, the Mountaineers could not pull through as they lost 74-79.
The Grizzlies will end there season games on the road as they face Colorado School of Mines Friday, February 25
th at 7:30 p.m. They will then head to Denver, Colorado as they face Regis University February 26
th at 6:00 p.m.
