CHADRON, Neb. — The Grizzlies continued on the road tonight against Chadron State. The Grizzlies were fresh off of an overtime defeat meanwhile, the Eagles didn't even play due to a bomb threat.
The Eagles had fresher legs after the team and everyone else on campus had to evacuate the campus in order for the police to search the school. The legs factor definitely had an effect on the game. The Grizzlies came out and had a slow start. The game started with Chadron State winning the tip, then two offensive rebounds, and ended on an Eagles basket. The Grizzlies never quite got the momentum of the first half but ended it on top by one point.
The second half started and the Eagles ran away with it. The Eagles held the Grizzlies to only 6 points in the entire third quarter. In that same quarter, the Eagles scored 13 points.
The fourth quarter began and it was a completely different story. The Grizzlies made a strong comeback and tied the game with a three pointer from senior guard
Stephanie Ruiz with 3.3 second left. The Eagles called a timeout and drew an ultimately game winning play. This play was executed by Ashayla Powers, who ended the game with 26 points. The Grizzlies lost from a buzzer beater the second consecutive night. The final score was 63-61, Chadron State.
Up next, the Grizzlies are hosting four games at Plachy Hall. They play Colorado Mesa, Westminster, Western Colorado, and Fort Lewis.
