BASE | Early Roadrunner lead too much for Grizzlies

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Grizzlies opened their series on Thursday with a nine-inning game with Metropolitan State University of Denver in Alamosa. The Grizzlies were unable to slow down the Roadrunners as they fell 21-12.

Game 1: Roadrunners 21 Grizzlies 12
The Roadrunners started of the game with a three-run home run in the top of the first inning. The Grizzlies responded with a two-run home run to left field by Mike Bathauer. The Roadrunners then scored three runs in the top of the second inning, four in the top of the third inning and five in the top of the fourth inning.

The Grizzlies scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run single by Matt Bathauer. The Grizzlies added another run in that inning with a bases loaded hit by pitch. The Roadrunners answered with three runs in the top of the fifth inning, one run in the sixth inning and two runs in the top of the seventh.

The Grizzlies added on run in the bottom of the eighth inning with a single by Mike Bathauer that plated Matt Bathauer. The Grizzlies added six runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The Grizzlies started right-handed pitcher Anthony Bleggi.  He was handed the loss for the Grizzles throwing three innings giving up ten runs with five walks, and two strikeouts.     

Up Next:
