BASE | Grizzlies fall to Roadrunners

ALAMOSA, Colo.-- The Grizzlies continue their series with against Metropolitan State University with two seven inning games today.  

Game 1: Roadrunners 25 Grizzlies 11
 The Roadrunners opened up the game with a three-run homerun in top of the first inning. Cedric Reynaud responded with a two-run home run to right field in the bottom of the first inning.  The Roadrunners then put up seven runs in the top of the second inning, third inning and also again in fourth inning. The Grizzlies put up six runs in the bottom of the third inning. That included back-to-back home runs by Coton Goldfarb which was a three-run homerun and a solo homerun by Orlando Romero. The Roadrunners put up their last run in the top of the fifth inning. The Grizzlies put up three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Grizzlies started right-handed pitcher Cutter Smith. He was handed the loss for the Grizzlies bringing his record to 1-5. He threw two innings giving up eight earned, zero walks and one strikeout.

Game 2: Roadrunners 7 Grizzlies 3
The Roadrunners started off the game with two runs in the top of the first inning. The Grizzlies cut the lead in half with a bases loaded walk by Matt Bathauer to plate Brody Bettis. The Roadrunners scored five unanswered runs with two in the fifth inning, one in the sixth inning, and two in the seventh innings. The Grizzlies scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh with a two run home run by Matt Bathauer to center field.

The Grizzlies started their ace Alfredo Villa. He was handed the loss throwing six and two thirds innings with six earned runs, eight strikeouts, and two walks. After the loss that brings his record to 5-3.
