BASE | Cougars down Grizzlies in evening game

DENVER, Colo. –  The Grizzlies continued their series today in Denver at All Star Park against Colorado Christian University. The Grizzlies played a nine-inning game which started at 4 p.m. and fell 26-12.

Game 1: Colorado Christian 26, Adams State 12
The Grizzlies opened up the game with a run in the top of the first inning with a sacrifice fly by Nathan Hield to score Ryan Downs. The Cougars responded with a solo homerun in the bottom of the first. The Cougars took the lead in the bottom of the second with a two-run homerun.

The Grizzlies tied the game in the third inning with a solo homerun by Matt Bathauer to right field and a single by Nathan Hield to score Cedric Reynaud. 

The Cougars went on to score fifteen unanswered runs with four in the bottom of the third and nine in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Grizzlies answered with six runs in the top of the fifth inning which included an error, a single by Brody Bettis to score Nathan Hield, a sacrifice fly by Ryan Downs to score Landon Faber, a double by Matt Bathauer to score two runs and a double by Cedric Reynaud to plate another run.

The Cougars went on to score one run in the bottom of the fifth inning and nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Grizzlies put up three runs in the top of the eighth inning with back-to-back home runs. Gunnar Martinez hit a two-run home run and Tommy Lyall hit a solo home run.

The Grizzlies started southpaw Jamison Fuentes. He was handed the loss bringing his record to 0-4 throwing two and two thirds inning with seven runs, zero walks, and one strikeout.

Up Next:
