ALAMOSA, Colo.— The Adams State University wrestling delighted a crowd inside Plachy Hall on Friday after noon after the No. 6 ranked Grizzlies handed the No. 22 ranked Chadron State Eagles a 29-9 loss. The Grizzlies are now 4-0 on the season and 2-0 inside the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
The Grizzlies won eight of the ten matches including the final seven straight en route to the 20-point win. Of the eight bout wins, the Grizzlies only got extra points from two matches as No. 1 ranked
Noah Hermosillo defeated Harrison Gocke via an 18-2 technical gall in exactly five minutes.
The next match saw
Aaden Valdez use just 1:28 before earning a fall over Preston Renner at 165 pounds.
With the dual starting at 184 pounds, Keegan Gehlhausen won a narrow 8-7 bout over
Hunter Tobiasson before Ben Tonnessen won the 197-pound match with a 6-1 decision over Bryan Zutavern to tie the dual at three.
Abraham Garcia dropped the 285-pound match via a fall in 2:39 to give the Eagles their only lead of the dual.
The 125 pound bout saw, No. 3 ranked
Brendon Garcia defeat No. 12-ranked Quade Smith with a very close 5-4 decision
At 133 pounds, Isaiah DeLaCerda made easy work of Colter Julian in the third period to take a 6-3 decision.
Kieran Thompson defeated Ethan Leake 4-2 at 141 while
Josiah Rider rounded out the wins for the Grizzlies with a 4-0 decision at 149 pounds.
The Grizzlies will look to keep their winning streak alive on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. when they host the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The Orediggers are 5-0 in duals this season and 1-0 inside the RMAC after defeating San Francisco State 30-9 back on Dec. 2nd.
