COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – From the first whistle that began the match against the University of Colorado of Colorado Springs the Adams State University men's soccer team gave everything they had, but still fell short as the final score was 7-0.
ASU displayed great ambition in the first half as they showcased a combination of strong passes as well as control of the ball. The Mountain Lions began to engage in a chess match as they were quick to observe and detect the Grizzlies next move. The game slowly began to unfold when the Mountain Lions were able to be the first to put a point on the scoreboard.
The Mountain Lions had many scoring opportunities as they worked their way to the goal, but
Charles Manthe stood tall refusing to let the pressure take over, and was able to make 11 saves in the first half of the match.
In the second half of the match, the Grizzlies found themselves at battle with the scoreboard as they made great efforts to get a point next to their name. The Mountain Lions had the upper hand, but ASU was determined to get to the goal.
A shot by the Mountain Lions on the lower left corner of the goal was able to get by Manthe. The Grizzlies continued to press forward being strategic with their passes and displayed great efforts during the remainder of the second half of the game.
With a final whistle, another chance at victory slipped through the Grizzlies fingers as the final score displayed a win for the University of Colorado of Colorado Springs, 7-0
The Grizzlies will be back on the field on Oct.20
th at 3:00 p.m. on their home field against Metropolitan State University Denver.
