ALAMOSA, Colo. – A halftime deficit was enough for the CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves to pull away with a 103-97 win on Friday night over the home Adams State University Grizzlies.
Adams State falls to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Adams State has now dropped seven in a row. Meanwhile the ThunderWolves improved to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the RMAC as they have now won two in a row.
Adams State took an early lead but the CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves rode the hot shooting of Brevin Walter and Makiah Morris, who each scored over 30 points. Walter had 36, Morris had 30, in what was believed to be the first time the ThunderWolves have had two 30-point scorers in a game.
Adams State had their biggest lead early when the score was 9-7 with 17 minutes remaining, the lead didn't last as saw the ThunderWolves close with a 56-47 lead at the break. The second half saw Adams State try and pull back in as they pulled within seven times several times.
Adams State was led by
Isaiah Sampson, who converted on 10-of-15 from the field including a 3-pointer, for 21 points. Additionally, Sampson was credited with eight defensive rebounds.
Austin Fadal was 8-of-12 from the field and 3-of-3 from the free throw line to score 19 points.
Adams State was 15-of-21 from the free throw line.
Looking ahead, the Grizzlies continue to compete in RMAC action on Saturday (Dec. 9th at 7:30 p.m.) against New Mexico Highlands and Friday against and (Dec. 15 at 5:30 p.m.). Colorado Mesa.
