MBB | MSU rides strong first half to victory over Grizzlies

ALAMOSA -- Metropolitan State University of Denver made 52 percent of its field goals in the first half and went on to a 75-70 win over Adams State in Plachy Hall Feb. 25.

For the game, the Roadrunners shot 49 percent from the floor and held the Grizzlies to 41 percent shooting. MSU's record improved to 12-16 overall, 8-14 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while the Grizzlies fell to 5-23, 3-19 in the RMAC.

Maison Adeleye and Alex Hurr led the Grizzlies with 14 points, while Isaiah Sampson finished with 10. Tyrei Randall led the Roadrunners with 24 points. Caleb McGill tossed in 15.

The Grizzlies were down 10 points with less than two minutes to play but had enough to make one last run. Tim Huston converted a free throw, then made a turnaround jump shot. Luke Williams cut the deficit to five points after a layup with 18 seconds to play.

Hurr canned a 3-pointer to bring ASU to within three points. But Metro's Quave Propst-Allen made three free throws down the stretch to seal the win. He finished with nine points in the game.
