ALAMOSA, Colo. - The cold wind that blew through the Adams State University Softball Field on Saturday night did not hinder the visiting Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets as their bats helped win the first game a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) doubleheader, 17-3, before the Grizzlies won the second game 12-2, both in five innings.
Game 1: Black Hills State 17, Adams State 3 (5 inn.)
The Yellow Jackets wasted no time as they put up a four-spot in both the first and third innings with the first four batters in the lineup crossing the line to open the game.
The Grizzlies trailed 9-0 before they scored their first run on a
Mariah Madrid triple in the third. The Yellow Jackets continued to pummel the ball and hoilding Adams State to two more runs in the fifth.
Black Hills State had 18 hits including five doubles, two triples and run. They did have seven walks and two strikeouts. Adams State had eight hits and struck out five times.
Game 2: Adams State 12, Black Hills 3 (5 inn.)
The second game saw the Grizzlies capitalize on miscues by the Yellow Jacket defense and three runs were scored in the bottom of the first and second innings on six hits.
Adams State the saw ten batter head to the plate while six runs scored. The Grizzlies capitalized on two Yellow Jacket errors and closed out the game with the win.
