SB | Grizzlies earn first RMAC doubleheader sweep

ALAMOSA, Colo. - Despite the bipolar weather that swept across thr ASU Softball Field on Sunday, the Adams State University Grizzlies were able to overcome that and pull off two wins over the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets, 8-5 and 7-2.

Game 1: Adams State 8, Black Hills State 5
The two teams traded runs early by manufacturing runs and capitalizing on defensive miscues. The Grizzlies first run came across on an infield single by Kaia Bradford. On the hit, an aggressive Jade Garbiso found herself stranded between first and second, however, an errant throw to home allowed her to score easily. The Yellow Jackets countered in the top of the second by loading the bases thanks to a muffed throw on a fielder's choice.

The Yellow Jackets broke the stalemate in the top of the fourth inning on back-to-back doubles to make the score 2-1. They ended up scoring three in the inning to make the score 4-1.
Adams State retaliated with four in the bottom of the inning with the big blow bwing a bases-loaded triple by Jade Garbiso to left center field. The Grizzlies than scored an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth.

After a Jade Garbiso triple with two outs, Belinda Vargas got insurance as she nailed a moonshot over the left field wall. The home run offset a seventh inning home run by Black Hills.
The Grizzlies had 12 hits in the game including two triples by Jade Garbiso.

Taylor Duncan, who played first base and had her first at bat in over three years, went 2-for-3 at the plate including an infield single in her first appearance. She also earned the win in the cirlce as she came in, in relief, and fired 3.1 innings of work, allowing just one run on five hits with two strikeouts.

Game 2: Adams State 11, Black Hills State 3 (6 inn.)
In the second game, the Grizzlies allowed the Yellow Jackets to score the first two runs in the top of the first before they responded with a three spot in the bottom of the inning.
After adding one in the second inning, a huge double by Angelline Mitchell saw the lead swell to 7-2.

A solo run in  the top of the fifth is all the Yellow Jackets could muster.

Sydney Muniz tacked on two runs with a bases loaded double in the bottom of the sixth
