LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Adams State University softball team was only able to score five runs in a four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) softball series at All Star Park on Saturday and Sunday.
The No. 14 ranked Colorado Christian University Cougars, last year's RMAC Tournament Champions, shut out the Grizzlies Saturday 8-0 and 12-0 in six and five innings, respectively. On Sunday, CCU won the first game 9-5 before rebounding and shutting out the Grizzlies 8-0 in six innings in the second game.
The Grizzlies are now 6-23 overall and 3-15 in the RMAC.
The Grizzlies' lone offense burst came on Sunday in the first inning of the first game as senior
Breck Smith hit a grand slam to score four runs. The Grizzlies than saw Smith use a 10-pitch at bat to push across a run.
The Grizzlies return to the ASU Softball Field next Saturday and Sunday with doubleheaders against the UCCS Mountain Lions. Saturday's games are set to start at noon.
