DENVER -- Regis University scored eight runs in its first three trips to the plate March 12 and beat Adams State University 17-2 on Regis' field.
RU moves to 12-10 and 3-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with the win, and the Grizzlies fall to 6-15, 1-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Matt Bathauer and
Ethan Abegg had two hits for Adams State.
Chris Gracia added a base hit as well.
Chase Hiatt got credit for ASU's only RBI.
Ty Addington was Adams State's starting pitcher. He struck out six in three innings on the mound. He gave up seven hits as well.
Regis' C\J Difaglia pounded out four hits, while Matt Marlow and Colten Chase contributed a pair of base hits. Chase and Difgalia drove in four runs..Regis' Blake Shepardson threw a seven-inning complete game. He walked one and struck out seven.
RU took advantage of a couple of Adams State errors for its five-run first inning.
Adams State scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. J. Dare tripled to center in the fifth and rode home on C. Hiatt's infield out. Gracia opened the sixth inning with a single, advanced to second on an error, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.
Adams State returns to play Friday, March 17, with a 3 p.m. home game against Colorado Christian.
