LITTLETON/DENVER, Colo. – The snowstorm that hit southern Colorado on Thursday, last week, forced the Adams State University Baseball team to move their four-game series with the Colorado Christian University Cougars to neural sites, Rock Canyon HS on Saturday for a doubleheader and the Regis Baseball Field for Sunday's twin bill.
Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, Colorado Christian won all four games with scores of 23-6, 7-6, 6-4 and 6-5.
The series opened with a slugfest that saw the Grizzlies score six runs in the sixth inning but the Cougars countered with an eight-run eighth inning for the win. In the game the Grizzlies had 23 hits including four doubles, a triple and four home runs including one by both Matt and
Mike Bathauer and two by
Jack Dere. Dere had five RBI in the game.
Game two saw CCU overcome a 4-2 deficit with five runs over the final two innings for the win despite a three-home run performance by
Matt Bathauer who also had five RBI in the game.
Game three saw the Grizzlies get ten hits but they could not get momentum in their favor.
The final game of the series was the same as game two with the Cougars overcoming a late hole with five runs in the last two innings for the win.
The Grizzlies, now 6-19 overall and 1-7 in the RMAC will return to action with as four-game series in Las Vegas, N.M. against the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys.
