MLAX | Thirteen Proves Unlucky for Adams State

QUINCY, Ill. – Kyle Butler tallied three goals to lead Adams State, but host Quincy scored 11 goals in the second half to take a 13-6 win over the Grizzlies to drop ASU to 1-1 on the season.

Brennan Grass got the visitors on the board at the 12:09 mark, with Dawson Balabanoff doubling ASU's lead two minutes later.

QU cut its deficit in half as the first period closed, and then tied the match with an early score in the second.

ASU answered, however, behind a Kris Owens score and another by Butler to put the Grizzlies up 4-2 entering the break.

The third period was all Quincy as they outscored ASU 7-1, and followed that outburst with a 4-1 advantage in the final period to account for the final score.

ASU tallied 19 shots on goal in 35 attempts, but couldn't take advantage of an extra man advantage, going scores in four opportunities.

QU, meanwhile, converted on 4-of-8 of its extra-man chances, while also winning 15 of 23 faceoffs on the day.

The Grizzlies continue action in Quincy tomorrow, battling Benedictine College at 12 noon.
