COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Riding an undefeated season into the final week of the 2022-23 wrestling season, Adams State University graduate student
Noah Hermosillo was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Wrestler of the Year by conference officials on Wednesday morning.
Hermosillo enters the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships as the No. 1 seed after hoisting a 24-0 overall record this season that includes five pins, three technical falls and eight major decisions. A returning champion for the Grizzlies, Hermosillo was named the RMAC Wrestler of the Week three times this season. Hermosillo, a reigning champion from a year ago, went the entire season ranked No. 1 and enters the National Tournament ranked No. 1.
In addition to Hermosillo, the Grizzlies saw three teammates in redshirt sophomore
Brendon Garcia, redshirt junior
Josiah Rider and redshirt freshman
Aaden Valdez, on the All-RMAC First Team.
Also, being honored by the conference's coaches were graduate
Ryan Rochford and redshirt sophomore
Hunter Tobiasson as All-RMAC Second Teamers.
Kieran Thompson and Ben Tonnessen were named Honorable Mention.
The Grizzlies, who have qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships, will be in Cedar Rapids, Iowa this weekend.
