PUEBLO, Colo. – Travis Brave Heart and
Tyler Hubbard scored a pair of goals each for visiting Adams State, but host CSU Pueblo boasted a pair of players with three goals each as the ThunderWolves took an 11-6 win over the Grizzlies this afternoon in front of an announced crowd of 335, dropping ASU to 1-3 overall, and 0-1 in RMAC play.
CSU-P scored the game's first three goals before
Dalton Summers trimmed ASU's deficit to 3-1 with an unassisted goal at the 5:39 mark of the first period.
Hubbard then saved ASU's deficit in half to open the second period, before Pueblo answered with three goals to take a 6-2 lead.
Hubbard and Brave Heart then found the net before the half to bring the Grizzlies to within 6-4 after two periods.
Dawson Balabanoff scored to open the third to bring ASU to within 6-5, but Pueblo again scored in a flurry, tacking on four scores to build a 10-5 lead with under four minutes elapsed in the fourth.
Brave Heart gave ASU hope with a goal at the 5:58 mark, but the hosts enjoyed the final say with a late score for the final tally.
The Grizzlies were competitive in every stat this afternoon, even forging ahead in faceoffs.
ASU hosts its first RMAC game of the season next Saturday as Westminster College (Utah) visits for a 10 am start at the ASU Lacrosse Field.
