SB | Grizzlies drop twin bill to Orediggers

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Offensive outbursts by the visiting Colorado Mines Orediggers doomed the Adams State University Grizzlies on Saturday afternoon as the Orediggers won the first game 11-2 before narrowly winning the second game 6-5.

GAME 1: Colo. Sch. of Mines 11, Adams State 2 (6 inn.)
A great defensive battle was spoiled by an 8-run outburst by the Orediggers in the top of the sixth inning.

The Grizzlies scored the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the first as Breck Smith nailed a single to left field to score Kaia Bradford. Sydney Muniz then grounded out to score Angeline Mitchell.

Starting pitcher Tayler Duncan sat down the first six batters she faced before surrendering two RBI doubles in the top of the third and single run in the top of the fourth.

After a scoreless fifth, the Orediggers capitalized on seven hits and a hit batsman to score the eight runs.

Game 2: Colo. Sch. of Mines 6, Adams State 5
The Grizzlies were held scoreless until the fifth inning, however, a four-run third inning and a two run sixth inning provided enough insurance for the Orediggers to hold on for the narrow win.

In the game the Grizzlies saw Jade Garbiso, who was tabbed with the loss, tossed a complete game while surrendering ten hits. The Grizzlies scored their five runs on eight hits and the help of two errors.
