DENVER -- Metropolitan State University's Ross Smith's second home run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Roadrunners a 6-5 win April 16 on the Roadrunners' field.
The win capped a four-game sweep of the Grizzlies.
ASU scored twice in the fifth inning.
Matt Bathauer drew an RBI the hard way after he was hit by a pitch.

After Smith homered in the bottom of the fifth inning,
Mike Bathauer's poked a sixth-inning double to score
Ayden Tauscher with the game-tying run.
Tauscher finished with three hits and two runs scored. Bathauer drove in two runs, and Marcus Hinnen finished with two hits. Smith had three hits in the game and the two RBIs.
In the opener April 16, the Roadrunners scored seven unanswered runs over the first six innings. Cam Yuran had two hits, including a two-run home run in the sixth inning, and Gavin Schmeh added a pair of RBIs.
Hinnen, who had two hits in three trips to the plate, drove in the Grizzlies' run with a seventh-inning base hit that scored Dere. He, Raker,

Metro State swept the opening doubleheader April 15 by scores of 9-2 and 21-6.
In the opener,
Mike Bathauer accounted for both of Adams State's runs with a fourth-inning home run. Five Grizzlies' errors didn't help ASU's cause. Those miscues led to five unearned runs for the Roadrunners.
Yuran had a home run and two RBIs for Metro State. Zach Paschke contributed a double and an RBI, and Smith added a home run.

Anthony Bleggi struck out seven in 5 1/3 innings of work. Metro's Arcilise Recihle struck out 11 in his eight innings on the mound.
The nightcap started well for the Grizzlies.
Mike Bathauer's second home run of the day accounted for three, third-inning runs and a 3-2 lead for ASU. He finished with five RBIs in the game.
However, Smith played long ball and tied the score with a home run in the last of the third. The Roadrunners erupted for five runs in the last of the fourth to take command. Jake Williams had a two-run single, while Smith and Tanner Garner also added RBI base hits.
The Roadrunners tacked on four more runs in the fifth inning and nine more in the sixth frame.
Matt Bathauer's three hits included a home run, and he drove in a run. Dere added a couple of base hits. The Roadrunners' Garner Tanner had four hits and three RBIS. Cody Schultz contributed three base hits and drove in two runs.

Adams State (10-27, 5-15 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) returns to the field at 3 p.m. Friday, April 21, for a home contest against Colorado State University-Pueblo.
