WSOC | Grizzlies battle Lady Buffs to 1-1 tie

CANYON, Texas – An equalizing rebound goal with less than ten minutes left in the game helped the Adams State University Women's Soccer squad to battle to a 1-1 draw during the West Texas A&M Lady Buffaloes.

The Lady Buffs move to 0-0-2 while the Grizzlies move to 0-1-2.

"Today we had a fair result vs a very good and well coached team," stated Head Coach Alex Greco. "We started slow but ended strong. Couldn't be more proud of our group. We have a special team, we just need to believe it."

With the clock ticking under 10 minutes to play and the Grizzlies down, Adams State found an equalizer when sophomore Tena Colette placed a pass onto the head of junior Brissa Toribio. Toribio's scoring chance got saved by West Texas A&M netminder Reagan Heelan, but the follow-up attempt by Karlee Caballero ended up in the back of the net. It was Caballero's second goal of the season.

The Lady Buffs scored their loan goal in the 39th minute

Ashlyn Bartley made three saves on four shots.

The Grizzlies return to action on Friday when they host Oklahoma Panahandle State University at noon.
