GUNNISON, Colo. – In the battleground of the Western Colorado University Open, the Adams State University wrestling team showcased their prowess, clinching two individual titles inside Paul Wright Gymnasium on Friday afternoon.
The first triumph unfolded in 125-pound bracket, where
Isaiah Gamez asserted his dominance with a 9-1 major decision over teammate
Adam Concepcion to finish out the 1-2 sweep. The weight class was completed with
Zion Mares securing a commendable fourth place.
At 133 pounds,
Joseph Enockson battled his way to a fourth-place finish before the 141-pound bracket saw
Cael Figueroa showcase with a fourth-place finish.
The crescendo came at 141 pounds as
Elijah Olguin electrified with a lightning-fast 43-second fall over Jorge Torres from Colorado Mesa.
The 149-pound bracket saw
Travis Vialpando finish in fourth place before Van Matre finished in second the 157-pound bracket.
Serigo Zaragoza finished in sixth place at 184 pounds. The final placer for the Grizzlies was
Wil Aucoin at 285 pounds as he finished in fourth.

As the dust settles, the Grizzlies now shift their focus to the 33rd Tracy Borah Duals at the Mountaineer Fieldhouse. The upcoming clashes against the University of Findlay at 10:30 a.m. and Minot State at 1:00 p.m. will close out a busy weekend.
