Denver, Colo. – Adams State Grizzlies (2-7-1, 0-5-0) suffered a hard-fought 2-1 defeat against Regis University (3-6-2, 2-2-1) in a RMAC matchup on Friday evening.
The Grizzlies took an early lead in the 7th minute when Colette Tena scored, assisted by Athena Huggins. Despite some strong defensive play, including four saves by goalkeeper Lianna Albert, Regis found their stride in the second half. Natalie Bunch equalized in the 57th minute, followed by Madeline Gardner's go-ahead goal just two minutes later.
Despite a valiant effort from the Grizzlies, including five shots and Lauren Ocampo and Molly Lancaster creating offensive opportunities and solid defensive work from the team, they were unable to find the equalizer. Regis outshot Adams State 13-5, with Adams showing resilience but unable to close the gap.
The loss marks the fifth conference defeat for Adams State, as they continue to seek their first RMAC win of the season Sunday against Black Hills State on the road.
