Alamosa, Colo. – In their final game of the season, Adams State fell to South Dakota Mines 44-6 at Rex Field. The loss which came on Senior Day for the Grizzlies, ended their season with a record of 0-11.
South Dakota Mines dominated early, scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter, including a 1-yard pass from Jake Martinelli to Tobin Frost and a rushing touchdown by Dawson Dunbar. Adams State managed to respond with a 54-yard field goal from kicker Brysen Gardner, bringing the score to 14-3. Gardner added another field goal in the second quarter from 23 yards, but that would be all the scoring for the Grizzlies.
The Hardrockers extended their lead with a consistent offensive display, including a 31-yard rushing touchdown by Gunner Rohloff in the third quarter and a 34-yard run by Holden Gilbert in the fourth. The Adams State offense struggled throughout the game, managing just 135 total yards and converting only 1 of 12 third down attempts. Alex Reid, making his first start at quarterback, led the team with 78 rushing yards but faced heavy pressure, resulting in a sack and limited passing opportunities.
Defensively, Adams State's Christian Toelei'u stood out with a game-high 11 tackles, but it wasn't enough to contain the efficient Hardrockers offense.
With the loss, Adams State concluded a challenging season, showing glimpses of potential but struggling to find consistency on both sides of the ball.
