GOLDEN, Colo. - The Adams State wrestling team was at the competitive Rocky Mountain Collegiate Open on Sunday with Jack Faczack winning an individual crown for the Grizzlies.
In the 125-pound division,
Adam Concepcion secured a 3rd place finish and contributing 13.5 team points. Despite facing tough opposition, Concepcion's journey to the podium included a decisive victory in the 3rd place match, where he pinned Tanner Stone of Colorado Mesa in just 30 seconds.
Aaron Zamora represented Adams State in the 133-pound category, finishing 4th overall and adding 9.0 team points to the tally. Despite a semifinal setback, Zamora's determination shone through as he fought his way to the 3rd place match. However, Jacob Jones of Air Force Prep claimed victory via forfeit. Meanwhile,
Joseph Enockson was in the same weight class, finishing 6th and contributing 7.5 team.
In the 149-pound division,
Jack Faczak emerged as a standout performer for Adams State, clinching the 1st place title.. Faczak's dominant performance included a major decision victory in the final, earning a remarkable 24.0 team points for Adams State. However, his teammate
Dylan Pickering also had a good showing, securing a 6th place finish and contributing 15 team points.
The 157-pound weight class saw
Greg Coy representing Adams State with distinction, finishing 3rd overall and adding 17.0 team points to the scorecard. Coy's journey a big victory in the 3rd place match, where he pinned Colby Ryan of Air Force Prep in just 1 minute and 51 seconds.
Adams State will be back inaction on March 2 when they travel to Pueblo for the NCAA Super Region VI Championships.
