BASE | Grizzlies close out weekend series with split

PLAINVIEW, Texas – Despite some late-game struggles in the bullpen, the Grizzlies showcased their resilience, delivering when it counted most to clinch a sweep against the Wayland Baptist University Pioneers on Saturday afternoon.

Game 1: ASU 12, WBU 9 (8 inn.)
After relinquishing a commanding 7-2 lead they secured by the top of the third inning, the Grizzlies rallied in the eighth, igniting their bats and notching five crucial runs, highlighted by Nathan Marthaler's bases-loaded double.

Throughout the game, the Grizzlies capitalized on their scoring opportunities, amassing 12 runs on a mere nine hits, with five of them going for extra bases, including four doubles. The Pioneers' defense faltered with two costly errors, while the Grizzlies' sturdy defense limited them to 12 hits while surrendering just one error.

Game 2: WBU 11, ASU 10
The Grizzlies wasted no time seizing the lead in the second game, with Mike Bathauer launching a three-run homer in the top of the first inning. Although the Pioneers managed to notch a single run in the bottom half, the Grizzlies swiftly responded with another home run, courtesy of Josh Parks.

Again the Pioneers cut into the lead as they scored two in the bottom of the second before the Grizzlies clawed back and scored two runs in the top of the third, just for the Pioneers to tie it up again.

Adams State continued to have the upper hand as they scored in the top of the fourth.

The Two teams traded blows with the Pioneers getting the walkoff in the bottom of the seventh.
