SB | Rangers complete RMAC sweep of Grizzlies

DENVER, Colo. – Despite scoring 15 runs in the second game of Sunday's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) doubleheader, the Adams State University softball team dropped both games.

The Grizzlies are now 2-15 on the season, 0-8 in the RMAC, and on an 11-game losing streak. The Rangers improve to 12-6 overall, 8-0 in the RMAC and have an 8-game winning streak.

Game 1: Regis 9, Adams State 1 (5 inn.)
After two scoreless innings, the Grizzlies scored their first and only run as an error on the shortstop allowed an unearned run to score. The Rangers wasted little time as they retaliated with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Again defense stood tall until the bottom of the fifth inning in which the Rangers scored seven runs to walkoff the game.

Adams State was able to get four hits with one of them being a Belinda Vargas double.

Game 2: Regis 18, Adams State 15
The second game looked like the Grizzlies were going to flip the switch as they jumped out to a 9-0 lead going into the bottom of the third inning.

The Grizzlies lead 3-0 after the two innings, again off the bat of Vargas who had an RBI-double and RBI-single in her first two at bats. The Grizzlies then added six runs on four hits and with the help of two errors.

Than in matter of the next inning, six hits coupled with six walks led to ten Rangers runs and the lead was evaporated.

The two teams went scoreless in the fourth before Vargas had another RBI single and a two-run home run by Eiguren gave Adams State the lead again.

But tale as old as time, the Rangers came back and scored five to get the lead for good. The lead stayed that way despite a Krista Healy home run and another run in the top of the seventh.

Adams State scored their 15 runs on 16 hits while getting help from three errors and five walks.

The Rangers scored their 18 runs on 13 hits, three errors and 11 walks.
