WBB | Grizzlies fall in overtime

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Despite matching her school record of eight steals in a game, Angeline Nageak and her teammate's 24 steals were not enough on Friday night as Adams State suffered a significant setback against MSU Denver, entering overtime and ultimately falling short in an 86-82 loss.

Harmanie Dominguez led Adams State with a notable 23 points, while Riri Davis contributed 12 points, showcasing their pivotal roles in the team's performance. Nageak also contributed eight assists to her eight steals.
 
In the early stages of the game, Dominguez set the tone with a successful free throw, marking the Grizzlies' first point. Angelline Nageak added to the scoreboard with a layup before the first quarter concluded, bringing ASU's tally to 13-11.
 
In the second half, Adams State's offensive capabilities came to the forefront earned Nageak's fifth assist set up Christabel Longe's pivotal 2-point jumper, narrowing the score margin to 47-46.
 
However, Brianna Sealy's instrumental assist facilitated Brooklynn Jones's game-altering 3-pointer, expanding MSUD's lead to 50-46, marking a decisive turn in the match.
 
In the closing seconds of regulation, MSU Denver capitalized on an opportunity, as Mariana Silva Pereira's crucial layup tied the score at 71-71. With 0.2 seconds remaining, two free throws were awarded to Davis, who missed, setting the stage for a thrilling overtime period.
 
In the tense final moments of the game, Adams State struggled with turnovers, which proved decisive as they headed into overtime. Despite their efforts to bridge the point gap with a crucial 3-pointer, the Grizzlies fell short
 
With a record of 14-7 overall and 9-4 in the RMAC, the Grizzlies are set to take on the Colorado School of Mines in crucial matchups this Saturday, with the game scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as It Is 'White Out' night and 250 free shirts will be given out to the first 250 Grizzly fans.
