CHADRON, Neb. – A tightly contested match that saw the score tied at 20 after all the matches saw the Chadron State College Eagles escape the Grizzlies with a tiebreaking win due to one lone fall in the third match of the dual.
Adams State falls to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference while the Eagles improve to 8-1 overall and 6-0 in the RMAC.
Beginning at 184 pounds, Keegan Gehlhausen, earned a 9-5 victory, giving the Eagles an early 3-0 lead.
Ben Tonnessen won their first of five Grizzly wins with a 9-0 major decision at 197 pounds.
In the 285-pound match that won the dual by criteria, Mason Watt, earned a fall in 1:49 over
Wil Aucoin.
Trailing 9-4, Adams State lowered the deficit to 9-7 after 125 pounds when No. 17
Isaiah Gamez rallied to defeat No. 8 ranked Quade Smith, 10-3.
The Grizzlies regained the lead 12-10 when Dale Van Matre secured a 18-2 tech fall at 133 pounds.

Angel Flores with a 6-3 decision at 141 pounds.
After dropping the 149-pound match, Adams State responded by winning the following two matches and scoring eight team points. Nico Carrasco was victorious 5-2 in sudden victory at 157 pounds and Aaden Valez won with a 17-2 tech fall at 165 pounds.
The Grizzlies were ahead but allowed a major decision to tie the match.
Both teams were victorious in five of the 10 matches so criteria fell to the number of pins in the dual. Due to Watt recording a pin at 285 pounds, the Eagles earned the 21-20 victory.
Adams State returns to action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they wrestle at Colo. School of Mines.
