ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State University Wrestling team claimed victory in seven out of ten matches for a decisive 29-9 triumph over the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys inside Plachy Hall on Wednesday night.
Adams State, now boasting a 5-4 overall record and standing at 3-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, aims to extend their winning streak as they prepare to host Western Colorado on Thursday.
The Grizzlies set the tone early, storming to a 14-0 lead in the dual.
Isaiah Gamez set the pace with a commanding 15-2 major decision over Rhys Sellers at 125 pounds.
DJ Van Matre secured a narrow 7-5 decision over Julius Kohn at 133 pounds, followed by
Angel Flores dominating with a 17-5 major decision over Joseph Misitano at 141 pounds. Travis Vilapando clinched a hard-fought 8-6 victory at 149 pounds.
Aadan Valdez electrified the crowd at Plachy with a spectacular fall in 4:11 at 165 pounds, while Samuel Loera secured a thrilling 4-1 sudden victory at 174 pounds.
