TUCSON, Ariz. – The Adams State University softball team achieved a split on Friday during the Cactus Classic.
GAME 1: Adams State 11, Davis & Elkins 6
Adams State took an early 2-0 lead after the second inning, with Mariah Madrid earning a bases-loaded walk and a single. Despite the Senators cutting the lead in half in the bottom of the inning, Adams State surged with five runs in the top of the third, leading to a commanding 7-1 advantage. By the end of the fourth inning, the lead extended to 10-3, though they had to fend off a two-run sixth inning.
GAME 2: San Francisco State 9, Adams State 3
Adams State yielded runs in the first, second, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings, finding themselves trailing 9-0 entering the bottom of the seventh. However, they managed to avoid a shutout by scoring three runs in the final inning.
