BASE| Regis Takes Two out of Three Against Adams State

ALAMOSA, Colo. – In a tripleheader held on the Grizzlies' field on March 10, Regis University emerged victorious in two out of three games against Adams State University.

The first two games were seven-inning contests. Regis University claimed the opener with a score of 12-5, but Adams State University responded strongly, securing an 8-6 victory in the second game. This win broke a six-game losing streak for ASU, while it marked the end of a five-game winning streak for the Rangers. The final game witnessed an offensive surge from the Rangers, as they clinched a 23-10 victory in what was another seven-inning affair due to lighting conditions.

Regis seized control early in the opener, fueled by a five-run third inning. Matt Graf and Tanner Rice contributed doubles, each bringing home a run, while Mattias Sessing and Maxim Fullerton added RBI singles. R. Guthrie's groundout capped off the inning's scoring spree.

Regis' first baseman Adam Paniagua played a pivotal role with two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs. Matt Graf also made significant contributions with two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. For ASU, Seth Reker and Jack Dere both tallied two hits and two RBIs each, while Joseph Raker chipped in with two hits and two RBIs.

In the second game, the Grizzlies showcased strong pitching from Descar Loma, who allowed only two hits over the first five innings and struck out three. ASU's offense came alive, with Reker and Raker leading the charge, each securing two hits and two RBIs. Additionally, seven different players contributed at least one RBI for the Grizzlies.

Regis mounted a late rally in the sixth and seventh innings, scoring a total of five runs, but Ty Addington came on to secure the save for ASU. Clayton Conn and Maxim Fullerton each drove in two runs for the Rangers.

In the final game of the tripleheader, Regis broke a 2-2 tie with a dominant nine-run second inning, ultimately sealing the victory. ASU managed to rally with five runs in the top of the fifth inning, but Regis responded with seven runs of their own to secure the win.

Looking ahead, ASU will face Colorado Christian University in a four-game series, with the opening game scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday, March 15. The series continues with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 16, starting at noon, and concludes with a single game on Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m.
