ALAMOSA, Colo. - Not only did Adams State's baseball team extend its win streak March 23 by sweeping a doubleheader from New Mexico Highlands, it set a school record in the process.
The game scores were 14-1 and 12-5. The Grizzlies have won seven games in a row, a school record. ASU sports a record of 13-16 this season, 8-3 in conference play.

GAME 1: ASU 14, NMHU 1
The Grizzlies kicked off the first game with a lone run in the bottom of the first inning, but their offense exploded in the bottom of the third, pushing seven runs across the plate on the strength of six hits. Mike and
Matt Bathauer ignited the scoring frenzy with two-RBI base hits to kickstart the rally.
Matt Bathauer carried his momentum into the bottom of the fourth inning, launching a three-run homer to further extend the lead. Not to be outdone, Mike joined the home run parade with a three-run shot of his own in the bottom of the fifth, bolstering the lead to 14-1.
Totaling 15 hits in the game, including six extra-base hits, the Bathauer duo celebrated their birthday by combining for an impressive 5-of-8 at the plate, tallying five runs scored, ten RBI, two doubles, and two home runs.
Walters secured the win, pitching six solid innings, surrendering just one run on one walk while striking out six.
GAME 2: ASU 12, NMHU 5
The second game saw little change in the offensive thrust. The Grizzlies pounded out 14 hits and scored 10 of their runs in the first three innings.
Ayden Tauscher had two home runs in the first two innings. One of those came in the first inning, and his second tater .. a two-run shot .. came in the second inning.
Joseph Raker chipped in with a two-run single.
Isaiah Pruitt had a base hit and drove in a pair of runs.
Matt Bathauer got in on the act with an RBI single as well.
Christian Altamirano added two base hits and an RBI.
Starting pitcher
Cesar Loma picked up the win, his third in four decisions. In six innings, he allowed five hits and struck out 10.
