SPEARFISH, S.D. – Despite favorable weather conditions in Spearfish, the Adams State Softball team struggled to ignite their offense and suffered a doubleheader defeat, falling 7-2 and 2-0 on Saturday.
GAME 1: BHSU 7, ASU 2
The Yellow Jackets capitalized on three unearned runs in the bottom of the second inning to secure a four-run lead.
Aubree Davis managed to narrow the deficit to 4-1 with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth.
Black Hills State extended their lead with a single in the bottom of the fourth. Although
Belinda Vargas launched a solo home run in the top of the sixth, the Yellow Jackets sealed the victory with a double and a sacrifice fly.
Adams State recorded two runs on eight hits but conceded seven runs on just five hits, coupled with three defensive errors. The Yellow Jackets benefited from six walks.
GAME 2: BHSU 2, ASU 0
The second game evolved into a defensive duel as the Yellow Jackets secured their two runs in the first inning with a single and added another in the second with a double.
In a brisk game lasting only 91 minutes, Adams State managed five hits with the assistance of one error, while Black Hills State registered nine hits alongside two errors.

Adams State, now holding a 3-20 record for the season and 1-13 in the RMAC, prepares for another doubleheader on Sunday. Next week, the Grizzlies will return to Colorado for a four-game series against the Colorado Mesa Mavericks in Grand Junction, Colo.
