Grizzlies Secure the Saturday Sweep

Alamosa, Colo. - The Adams State baseball team played their second and third games of their four game series versus Metropolitan State University of Denver on Friday. The Grizzlies swept day two of games and won the first game 17-10 and the second game 6-2. These games ended MSU Denver's 24 game win streak against the Grizzlies and marked the Grizzlies first wins against MSU Denver since 2017. This is also the first time in ten years the Grizzlies have secured two wins for the series against MSU Denver.

Adams State 17, MSU Denver 10

The game started with the Roadrunners scoring first but the Grizzlies would answer right back. Through five innings the score was tied 10-10; however, the Grizzlies would have a huge sixth inning and score 7 runs. Ty Addington came  to the mound to finish the game and the Roadrunners were unable to answer and the game ended 17-10 after seven innings. 

The Grizzlies had 17 runs on 16 hits from 33 at bats compared to MSU Denver's 10 runs on 16 hits and 35 at bats. 

Adams State 6, MSU Denver 2

The Grizzlies were the first on the board, continuing their dominance from the last game, scoring 4 runs in the third inning and 2 more runs  in the fifth inning. The Roadrunners were able to score 1 run in each of the sixth and seventh innings, but that was not enough and the game ended 6-2 in favor of the Grizzlies. Cesar Loma dominated the mound as he struck out five batters and gave up only four hits.

The Grizzlies had 6 runs on 10 hits from 27 at bats compared to MSU Denver's 2 runs on 5 hits and 26 at bats.

Next Up

The Grizzlies will be back in action tomorrow at 12:00pm MT  for their final game of their four game series against MSU Denver.
