Alamosa, Colo. - The Adams State baseball team played their final game of their four game series versus Metropolitan State University of Denver on Sunday. In a close and hard fought game the final score ended 9-7 in favor of the Roadrunners. This game brings the Grizzlies to 18-20 on the season and 13-7 in RMAC play. The Grizzlies are sitting at second place in the RMAC as they head in to the final weekends of play.
MSU Denver 9, Adams State 7
The Roadrunners were the first on the board, scoring 1 run in the first inning, 2 runs in the third inning, and 1 run in the third inning. The Grizzlies got on the board in the bottom of the third inning, scoring 3 runs of their own. Then after a scoreless fifth inning MSU Denver would score 2 more runs in the sixth inning and the Grizzlies wouldn't answer until the seventh inning, scoring 1 run. The Roadrunners put the game out of reach in the eighth inning by scoring 3 more runs. The Grizzlies also got on the board in the final innings, but it was not enough. The game ended 9-7 in favor of the Roadrunners.Â
The Grizzlies had 7 runs on 14 hits from 41 at bats compared to MSU Denver's 9 runs on 12 hits and 36 at bats.Â
